📚 Day 1 of the Work with Myths Workshop in Palermo.

✨ Our Erasmus+ “Work with Myths” last workshop happened in the vibrant city of Palermo, where history, art and legends interwine in every single corner.✨
Royal Palace and the Paletine Chapel
On our first day, we stepped into the magnificent Royal Palace, a true symbol of Sicily’s multicultural past. Walking through its grand halls, we could almost feel the presence of the kings and queens who once shaped the island’s destiny. Inside, the breathtaking Palatine Chapel left us in awe—its golden mosaics shimmering like sunlight captured in stone, telling stories that blend Christian faith with Arab and Byzantine artistry.

Palazzo of the Italian Postal Service
Next, we visited the Palazzo of the Italian Postal Service, a remarkable example of early 20th-century architecture that beautifully combines elegance with functionality. Beyond its official purpose, the building stands as a monument to communication—the human desire to connect across time and distance. Its marble halls, decorative paintings, and harmonious proportions reflect a bygone era, when art and modernity walked hand in hand. We learned about how the postal service has evolved and how this palace once served as a hub of messages, stories, and emotions—an echo, in its own way, of the myths that travel from one generation to another.

Palazzo Abatellis Art Gallery
Finally, we explored the Palazzo Abatellis Art Gallery, a sanctuary of medieval and Renaissance masterpieces. Each work of art carried us into a different myth or moment in history, revealing how legends have always inspired creativity and human imagination. The famous “Annunziata” by Antonello da Messina, with its serene beauty and the “The Triumph of Death” left a lasting impression on us all.

It was a day filled with discovery and inspiration—a celebration of how the myths of the past still shape our understanding of art, culture, and identity today.
