📚 Day 3 of the Work with Myths Workshop in Palermo.
✨ Our Erasmus+ “Work with Myths” third day was a journey through earth, air, and sound—each experience revealing another layer of Palermo’s timeless spirit.✨
Sirocco Chamber and Qanat at “Volpe Astuta” Scout Base
We began our day by descending beneath the city, into the mysterious Sirocco Chamber and the ancient qanat tunnels at the “Volpe Astuta” Scout Base. Down in the cool silence, time seemed to slow. These underground passages—ingenious works of engineering—once brought life-giving water to the city above. The whisper of droplets and the dim play of light on stone created an almost mythical atmosphere, as if the earth itself were telling stories of survival, adaptation, and harmony with nature. It reminded us that myths often spring from humankind’s relationship with the elements—air, water, stone—and our endless curiosity to uncover what lies hidden beneath the surface.

Boccadifalco Airport – Flight Above Palermo & WWII Shelter Visit
From the depths, we rose to the skies. At Boccadifalco Airport, one of Italy’s oldest airfields, we experienced the exhilaration of flight—soaring over Palermo’s rooftops, mountains, and sea. Seeing the city from above felt like watching history unfold in motion, the myths of the land stretching far below us. Later, back on solid ground, we explored a World War II shelter nestled near the airport—an evocative reminder of human resilience in times of fear and chaos. The contrast between the open skies and the protective underground echoed the duality of myth itself: aspiration and refuge, courage and survival.

Evening at Music ART House Academy (MARTHA)
As the sun set, we concluded our day with a celebration of art and emotion at the Music ART House Academy (MARTHA). The elegant notes of a piano intertwined with the soaring voice of a soprano, filling the room with beauty and grace. Each melody seemed to breathe new life into ancient tales—echoes of gods, heroes, and dreams transformed into sound. The music carried us beyond words, uniting everyone in a shared moment of wonder.

It was a day that connected the depths of the earth, the freedom of the sky, and the harmony of the human soul—a perfect reflection of how myths continue to guide us through every layer of existence, from the unseen to the infinite.
